Who will it suit?
Those who flourish in a happy atmosphere where learning is known to take place as much on the sports pitch as in the classroom. For those not inclined towards higher academic achievement, other programmes are available, including studying for B-Tech qualifications in sport and public services. An investment programme of over £7m, including the development of a new sixth form centre and media studies department, has created a warm but non-stressed environment for the 500 pupils.
Many move on to university but a number of pupils are identified by sports groups and leading clubs for higher performance opportunities. Regular overseas touring by sports teams boosts confidence and considerable support is available to find vocational opportunities for those who want them. The Polo Academy coaching, which is an added cost, is attracting attention from around the world.
Opportunities exist for trial periods at the school and the spacious accommodation allows for each age group to feel at home. Big-hearted staff, who are clearly motivated to ensure the best environment for the 110 boarders, create a strong family atmosphere where robust youngsters can discover their own abilities and joys.
Strong sporting links with UK premiership football and rugby teams, plus their own Polo Team and golf course, allow full use to be made of this ‘Capability Brown’ designed 100-acre estate, set in the heartland of East Anglia. An academically non-selective school which offers one-to-one help for slower learners and those with special academic needs. Eighty different extra-curricular activities are available each week to complement the traditional GCSE, B-Tech and A-level programmes, ensuring youngsters can find out what they are best at.
